Party Dress Progress

So I've been working on the party dress, it's going to be a high low skirt with a skirt underneath, in case you were wondering about the extreme short length of the front of the skirt. The bodice is going to be a boned corset style, I'm undecided on the neckline style as of yet.

Golden Globes

71st golden globes, jennifer lawrence, sandra bullock, Kate Beckinsale, Michelle Dockery, Drew Barrymore, Cate Blanchett

These are some of my favourite red carpet looks from last nights 71st Golden Globes. I love red carpet events and seeing so many beautiful creations and it gets me so inspired!

Did you watch the Golden Globes? What looks did you love best?

I'm making my annual party dress and it's between these two fabrics, both on opposite ends of the spectrum but I have fabulous ideas for both of them!

Issey Miyake Vogue Jacket

issey miyake, vogue, draped collar

lilac jacket, v1052

Jacket: Selfmade V1052
Leather Gloves: Gift
Pants: Mexx
Boots: Aldo
Earrings: Gift

This jacket is a Vogue Issey Miyake pattern I bought a few years back but was a project I had finished for 2013. I had meant to take photos earlier and post this project but getting but it didn't happen and here we are. I am so happy with how this jacket turned out, I love the drape of the double collar it's so different from any jacket I've made before. I will admit that the jacket was supposed to have welt pockets and I didn't put them in, hilarious given the amount of welt pockets I sew in a year at work but apparently I had a lazy moment!

And of course the moment I step outside to take photos it starts snowing again.

Happy 2014!

The Finding Of A Gem

So I thrifted my dress but my friend Katrina made hers, she even put zippers in her pockets
to keep everything safe and not have to drag a purse out while celebrating.

Dress: Thrifted
Bracelet: Thrifted
Headband: Lace trim from my stash

Happy New Year! I'm excited for 2014, lots of adventures and fun coming up this year.

This amazing dress was one of a couple dresses I found while recently in Winnipeg, I didn't even try it on, I just looked at it and thought "yes, that'll fit" and then New Years Eve was upon us and I thought I should try this dress on in hopes of wearing it out. It did fit thank goodness! It has three tiers of lace and then two layers of chiffon for the skirt bottom, it's such a beautiful combination I think I'll have to keep it in mind for future inspiration!

I also attempted a "faux bob" and I think it turned out cute but I was definitely wanting to go more Greta Garbo than prim and proper. Better luck next time.

Did you make anything for New Years Eve?
