I had started this skirt a while ago and then finally got around to putting on the waistband and doing the hem this weekend. The gorgeous weather was all the incentive I needed to get it done so I could enjoy it! The skirt is a "lazy" pattern where I just cut two pieces the width of the fabric to the desired length, make a seam at the center back and insert a zipper, gathering the skirt into the waistband measuring slightly larger than my waist for an overlap hook and bar closure above the waistband. Easy peasy.
Sadly the dusk lighting doesn't show off the amazing detailing in the sweater.
The next couple of days look to be the last of summer around here, I can't complain though summer here has been gorgeous.
Some big and exciting news for me is that I have gone back to school part time for the fall semester at The Fashion Institute to take some ladies Victorian costume making classes. I will be learning to make corsets, bustles and the clothing of 1883-1888 time period which was considered the resurgence of the bustle. As I will still be working full time the next few months are going to be crazy busy, but I'm just so happy that my work is allowing me to do this I don't care about how busy I will be!
The beau and I put 6600km on my Fiat in 10 days on our road trip this summer. Our stop on the way back at Mount Rushmore was amazing, it was a great break from driving all day and the weather for this brief period was gorgeous.
