Here's a look at my latest project, it's a metallic brocade blazer! I've only had this fabric for maybe a couple months so I'm doing  really good not letting it just get lost in the rest of my stash.

First I pulled out my tailored jacket blocked and then drafted in the collar and lapel that I wanted.

Here's a shot of the brocade in natural lighting.

Second fitting, 4 inches taken in later when I remembered this jacket block was in fact a "jacket" block not a blazer....

My welt pocket, note to self and anyone out there who wants to stitch with metallic brocade, stitching during the day with the natural lighting is so much better with shiny fabric like this than in the evening with the lights shining on it and making it hard to see what you are doing!

Dress Remix

Dress: Thrifted
Tights: Winner
Belt: Dynamite
Shoes: Winners

I mixed up this dress by adding brown and black accessories and I must say I like how it turned out, especially with the tassel necklace I tied up in the back so it would sit better for the neckline of this dress.

Look What I Found

I was looking through my photos when I got back from Vegas thinking I had to be missing some photos but not sure what had happened, then I was going through my iphone and finally found the ones I had been looking for! Silly me!

I had to take a photo in front of this store because as you can see it is a never ending wall of sewing machines! There was another wall at least another 30ft off to the side of here also floor to ceiling with the sewing machines

Brands of machines I've never heard of before and in lots of different languages. I have to admit I didn't even go in the store!

Better late than never though right?

Metallic Missoni Inspired

Tunic: Thrifted
Vest: Suzy Shier
Leggings: Suzy Shier
Boots: Town Shoes
Necklace: Gift

Did you notice I'm smiling in the first photo? Shocking, but I really like how that photo turned!
This dress is more of a tunic on me, but I really liked the texture and print and decided to give it a go and I'm happy I did.

Last night I had the most fabulous chat with Natasha and I brought up my wondering what I was going to make for my Christmas party frock and we did some brainstorming and now I have the most amazing idea! Thanks Natasha for continuously telling me to rock a crop top because you are prego and wish you could! That's all I'm saying for now, you'll just have to be patient.

The Return Of Sunshine And Good Photos

Top: Banana Republic
Cardigan: Thrifted
Skirt: Winners
Necklace: Sears
Belt: Refind
Tights: Winners
Booties: DSW
Sunnies: Aldo

The sun has come back and it has been lovely! I've had quite a few days when my outfit photos have just not worked at all due to the seriously dismal weather and that gets rather frustrating.
This is what I wore when I went and saw Calgary Theater's production of Pride and Prejudice, they did such a wonderful job on everything from the choice in actors (Hello Mr. Darcy), costumes, and set design to leave my friend and I delighted. It's got me thinking about season tickets to the theater, something fun and different.

Do you ever go to any plays? What's your favourite?

The Batman Converse

Leather Jacjet: Wilson's Leather
Knitted Vest: Thrifted
Shirt: Suzy Shier
Sequin Skirt: F21
Tights: Winners
Converse: Converse Store

Some friends and I went to The Glenbow exhibit of Fairytales and Magical creature over the weekend, and while you can't really see any snow in this part of town I had been wishing I had layered some sheer tights underneath because it was cold! The exhibit itself was amazing, some of the sculptures that were done were so lifelike it looked as though they would blink at any moment.

How about these Converse? Thanks to my friend Katrina for thinking up the back view shot to really show them off.

Festive Shoe DIY

After Halloween I got thinking about the shoes I had decorated for my costume and how much I really liked how they turned out. It also got me thinking about all the other things I'd like to put on my shoes so I thought I would share what I did with my shoes for my costume:

I used:
Fabric ripped into strips for my ruffle
Fray check - for my fabric as it frayed really bad and made a mess!
Leather needle
Buttons
I bought a pair of shoes for this, but I have a pair or two in my closet I'll use in the future.

I gathered my fabric strips to make my ruffle, I did this by machine but this could be done just as easily by hand! I stitched on the ruffle all the way around the edge of the shoe using my leather needle, as my shoes were leather and this made the stitching much easier.

I added gold buttons onto my shoes and voila! These shoes remind me of so many of the fabulous ones on Marie Antoinette.

I've actually been collecting gold buttons to cover an entire pair of shoes.... Maybe I'll get to them next!

Anyways, I thought this was the perfect time for this DIY because it's almost party season and what girl doesn't need a fabulous pair of shoes to go with a fabulous dress?

Cable Knit to Leather

Cardigan: Thrifted
Button Up Blouse: Thrifted
Leather Skirt: Thrifted
Tights: Winners
Boots: Town Shoes
Ring: F21

This back ground is a new favourite of mine, I love the colours of the wood and the way it has aged.
This weekend the beau and I went and saw Jeff Dunham, he was hilarious, and I love those dolls of his! I also went and saw the Fairytale exhibit at The Glenbow, it was a variety of artists all doing their interpretations of the way they saw things from fairytales in different medias and if this exhibit comes anywhere near you go check it out!

Happy Monday!
