Red Hot

Suede & Faux Fur Coat: Thrifted
Red Sweater: Thrifted
Pleated Skirt: Winners
Tights: Suzy Shier
Red Suede Wedges: Winners
Necklace: Shop in Playa Del Carmen
Ring: Shop in Playa Del Carmen

I found this necklace in Mexico last spring break, then sadly a month or so after I got it the string broke and it took me until last week to restring it! It's made of bullhorn, Coral, and turquoise whatcha ma call it! I'm having a moment.... Now that its back in my jewelry box I'm so happy!

This sweater was another find at the last VV sale, its seriously one of the softest sweaters ever and I think I could live in it!

It's Good To Be Green

Next Coat: Thrifted
Scarf: Refind
Jeans: Thrifted
Boots: Aldo
Rings: Winners, Mexico shop, Claires, Aldo
Watch: Gift

This amazing coat and pair of skinny jeans were some more of my amazing finds from the last 50% off sale at VV. I say amazing because fitted coats with sleeves that are long enough sometimes seem like mythical creatures to me, they sound wonderful and you wish they were real.... Know what I mean?
Plus this coat is a great shade of green!

Hope everyone had an amazing weekend, the beau and I got out to the mountains for a great day of snowboarding with lots of fresh powder and I really couldn't of asked for a more perfect day.

I'm currently lusting after Tasha Delrae's amazing floral and pleather jacket she made over the weekend, if you haven't seen it yet check it out here!

Bring On The Mullet Skirt

Ralph Lauren Blazer: Thrifted
Top: Banana Republic
Skirt: Gift from Natasha
Tights: Winners
Steve Madden Booties: DSW

What joy this fantastic skirt from Natasha brings me! I had so much fun wearing it, although people either said something about it or tried not to stare at it which I found quite funny. So not everyone loves a mullet, but this girl is sold!

And yay for the days getting longer and taking photos in the evening sunshine!

The Sherlock Moment

Can you see the chain that is attached to the pocket watch hidden in the welt pocket?

Bowtie: Selfmade
Waistcoat: Drafted and made by me
Frock Coat: Drafted and made by me

Here's the beau at long last modeling his Victorian frock coat and waistcoat. All I can say about these photo's is that we took them at the end of the night, after all the shanannigans.

The bowtie I whipped together Saturday afternoon at the request of the beau and as you can see he did pull it off quite well! The frock coat is made out of a green and cream herringbone wool with a silk wool blend fabric for the cuffs and upper collar. Aside from a men's dress shirt, I took my men's victorian tailoring class with no menswear experience and had a blast. If I didn't like making clothes for myself so much I'd do more tailoring for the beau, not that I think he'd get nearly enough use out of any of it to make me happy!

I would like to make a top hat to go with this outfit, that last piece I feel would complete this outfit! Did I mention I had tried to convince the beau that he should wear this when the latest Sherlock movie came out? That would of been funny!

Do you ever make garments for your man?

A Little Bit Of Everything

Rabbit Fur Jacket: Thrifted
Cardigan: Made by my grandma
Vest: Vintage
Knit Top: Joe Fresh
Wide Leg Pants: BCBG
Booties: Aldo
Hat: Stampede

Now that temperatures have gone back to civilized I'm taking photos outside again! This is actually Friday's outfit, but I was so excited about my Lace Cut Out Dress I just had to post it first! Not that I'm not excited about this outfit, it was comfy and warm and this jacket which I found on last weeks 50% sale at VV was such a find.

Now for all those against fur, this was thrifted so technically I saved this coat, and I'm a meatatarian through and through.

I also got to meet Evan Biddell on Friday which was super cool, check out my photo with him on Instagram!

The Lace Cut Out Dress

Dress: My Creation!
Shoes: Nine West
Earrings: Joe Fresh

I'm so excited about how this turned out! The see through back with the lace and the applique on the hem and sleeves turned out beautiful as I imagined. I added an extra detail with the lace, the scallop on the lace was actually double so I cut off the extra and then placed it around the edge of the back. This seemed like a simple enough idea at first and then I decided I had better measure the scallop and make sure it was even on both sides and etc.... That took a while...

But it was worth it because I'm in love with this dress!

Shopping In My Man's Closet

Sweater: Thrifted
Shirt: Beau's closet
Jeans: Thrifted
Boots: Nine West

Sorry for the terrible photos today but I'm just not taking photos outside in -35 and colder right now! Thankfully this weekend its supposed to get to zero which will be amazing and I'm definitely looking forward to it!

I found the perfect button up shirt for underneath this itchy mohair sweater in my man's closet! I can't even remember if I've seen him wear it, but he didn't say anything when he saw it on me so now I'm wondering if he even realized it was his shirt..... I love this sweater, but because of the mohair it's a little itchy so this shirt as well as styling perfectly fit the bill for what I needed!

I;m hoping to post my fabulous from thrifting over the weekend, stay tuned!

Freezing Up

This is my "I'm cool with winter, but not these kinds of ridiculous temperatures" face...

I snagged this beautiful belt at the 50% off sale at VV on Monday!

And again with "the face"

Cardigan: Thrifted
Necklace: Thrifted
Belt Thrifted
Pants: The Gap
Hat: Stampede

Temperatures of -35 are not conducive to outdoor photo taking, to those of you that are doing that, how are you not freezing to death? The only way I would be taking outdoor photos in this weather would pretty much be with snow pants and a balaclava which would probably defeat the point right?

I have been really layering and making the most out of sweaters and cardigans in my closet this week though, thank goodness for finding those a while back and knowing that mother nature would be sure to hand us a whooping sooner or later.....

And I love this belt I found on Monday!

Happy Thursday!

The Lace Cutout Dress

This is a very primitive sketch of what I will be working on every night this week in order to have this dress done for a party I'm going to on Saturday! I can happily say I did get the pattern drafted this past weekend, so hopefully tonight I'll get this whole thing cut out. Last night was the 50% at VV so that was a write off although I can't wait to share my fabulous finds!

Happy Tuesday!

When It Comes To Leopard....

Jacket: Le Chateau
Leopard Maxi: H&M
Knit Top: Suzy Shier
Booties: Also
Necklaces: Thrifted & Walmart

I can't stop thinking about leopard print lately.... Its everywhere.... No really, it is! I'm stuck on using leopard print wallpaper for the feature wall in my sewing room, then I come across a mug with leopard print cat silhouettes (Too bad it was chipped), and then I woke up not even thinking about what I was going to wear and ended up putting this maxi on. Even when I'm not thinking about it, I'm thinking about it! Know what I mean?

Meanwhile, I had a fabulous weekend which involved drafting the pattern for a lace dress for a party I'm going to this weekend. I'm super excited about how I'm going to do the back, stay tuned!

Hope everyone had a great weekend too!

I Thrifted

Last night I did a little thrifting and found these two beauties.....

I'm loving lace a lot these days, so coming across this black lace jacket was such a treat and of course I snapped it up!

And of course what girl doesn't need yet another fabulous colorful necklace to add to the collection?

Have a fabulous weekend

Splatter Delight

Trench Coat: Bebe
Top: RW & Co
Skirt: Suzy Shier
Tights: Winners
Steve Madden Flats: DSW
Earrings: Anika Burke

I've been so wrapped up in the make over of my sewing room I've been forgetting to do other things, mostly not super important but then I forgot to do my blog post! Gasp!!! I did find a fabulous bookcase for my sewing room and have now got all my books and knick knack things into the bookcase and off the floor and piles all over the place. Yay!

What do you think of this fabulous black and white top? I got it on some boxing week shopping and quite enjoy the lace detail. Meanwhile these tights that have glitter splattered on them continue to delight me and I'm wondering if I should try and make some myself? That could be a fun DIY.....

Happy Thursday!

Comic Apron

I made this apron for my friend Amy for Christmas. We just exchanged gifts last week thus I am only posting this now!

Can you read the comic strip? How fabulous is this?! My favorite part is the ladies saying this well dressed lady is throwing her mans money around because she looks so good.....

I even have enough fabric left over to make something for myself, what would you do with this fabric?

She's A Poser

Blazer: Thrifted
Dress: Banana Republic
Fishnets: ?
Pumps: Winners

On Jen
Dress: Guess
Pumps: ? And she just got them....

And by she, I definitely mean that my sister is the poser here... It was her birthday though, so I guess if there's time to be a poser this was it.... Plus how often is January above 0 degrees celcius, we did get to make the most of it and go bare legged and not get frostbite!

Sadly, this photo does not do this dress justice but at least you can see the fabulous color!

A Year In Review

Nothing beats slaving over a project like this and having it turn out as a master piece!
My trip to Mexico!

Year End Fashion Show
Dress remodel
My girls weekend with Natasha was a major highlight of my summer, I love this photo showing us laughing and how fabulous we both look!
These pants were a great sewing project
Halloween costume, enough said. Not to mention this costume had battery powered EL Wire
lighting the whole thing up!

What a year! I keep reading people's year in review posts and thinking oh yeah, I meant to do one of those so here it is!
I'm happy to say there were a lot of times when it was hard to pick a favorite. Although I will also mention the first couple months of the year I really didn't have any choices since I had pretty much stopped blogging due to my school load.

2011 was a fabulous year for so many reasons, but I continue to blog because of all the amazing people  that comment on my blog and all the fellow bloggers I come across that inspire me as well and I can't wait to see what everyone gets up to this year!
