The Fabulous Sweater

I thrifted this completely amazing sweater, jealous?

It's made of mohair, which meant I had to wear a shirt underneath as it was slightly itchy.

The fabulous lighter green detailing is I believe ultrasuede that has been appliqued on, even knowing this I still washed this sweater. I'm not paying $10 a pop to dry clean when I think I paid less than $5 for the darn sweater.

Adrienne Vittadini Sweater: Thrifted
Skirt: Self made
Tights: Winners
Boots: Nine West
Ring: Gift from Natasha and Jen
Headband: Ardene

This is me trying a Marley Simone type post as she always wears really cool rings and does fun poses like this to show them off. I will add that she probably puts the right settings on her camera so her pictures turn out.....

Pleat Me

Jacket: Thrifted
Silk Bow Top: Le Chateau
Pleated Skirt: The Gap
Tights: Winners
J. Lo Wedge Heels: The Shoe Company
Bangles: Ten Thousand Villages & Thrifted

Okay, so I'm starting to wonder if my camera is going on the fritz after looking at these images a little closer. They're grainy and I don't know why, camera setting accidentally on the wrong one? Crappy winter lighting? On top of this I dropped my camera, this was actually after these photos so now I'm extra concerned.... It also looks like there's something on my skirt in the one photo but there wasn't at the time.... Yet another technology mystery I need to figure out....

The Project List

Peg trousers, Comptoir des Cotonniers, £109

Clearly I have to get my butt in gear and get sewing..... Not to mention gifts I need to get sewn for Christmas!

Meanwhile, I go to schedule this post and I see that a whole bunch of the images I had put to my items list on Polyvore had published themselves here on the blog, but strangely not all of them? Does anyone know how I managed to do that? The learning curve with Polyvore continues.....

I did get my mums xmas gift made this weekend, and then I started working on a maxi skirt for me, but hey at least I've got one gift down....

Maxi Delight

Trench Coat: Bebe
Maxi Dress: Zara
Scarf: Thrifted
Necklace: Refind
Knit Top: Self Made
Earrings: Street Festival
Boots: Nine West

We had a bunch of snow at long last right after I took these photos, sadly it got warm and most of it melted again! Yes, I love snow. It makes everything all sparkly and pretty and my dog loves face diving into the snow which never ceases to crack me up!

I love a layered maxi dress for winter, such a fun alternative to pants!

Hope everyone has a fabulous long weekend!

Stripes Make Things Right

Striped Dress: Zara
Leggings: Suzy Shier
Over The Knee Boots: Bakers
Nacklaces: Blue - from my mum, Orange - ???

I'll keep my talk about the pitfalls of winter to a brief comment on the short days and serious lack of lighting for photos. So here are my indoor photos for now....

I thoroughly enjoy the puff sleeves on this Zara dress, and my bright colored necklaces are my way of adding some color to my very dark outfit today!

My faux fur and fabric I'm using as the lining are washed and ready to go for the gilet I plan on making so hopefully I'll get that done in the next couple of days. I've also washed a loose weave fabric similar to a boucle in white, black, and red which I plan on making a maxi skirt out of. Now I need my brutal headache to go away so I can get stitching!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving to my American friends!

Positive Body Image FBFF

Jacket: ?
Knit Top: Thrifted
Pants: Dynamite
Necklace: Suzy Shier
Ring: Gift from Natasha
Watch: Gift
Ballet Flats: The Shoe Company

Well instead of snow, we had a chinook blow in, bringing sunshine and above zero temperatures!!!! It was excessively windy though, so much so that fences were blown over and shingles off of rooftops and etc. No joke! It was still way better taking outfit photos in the wind than the seriously cold weather we've been having so I enjoyed getting my vitamin D and the sunny weather as much as I could. Too bad about the squinty face.....

On another note, FBFF is doing their Thankful Body Image post where we list 5 things we like about ourselves, especially our outsides, so here goes....

1) My hair, I love my curly hair! Contrary to the usual those who have straight want curly and vice versa
2) My height - I can see over crowds, extra handy at concerts!
3) My big eyes - the easier to see you with my dear.....
4) My feet, they fit in my pretty shoes
5) Kind of overlapping on #2 but my long legs and arms - so handy for those high shelves, especially where I work since I tower over everybody, not an exaggeration!

This was a good topic, instead of seeing all the things I don't like about myself it reminded me of the positive things. In saying this I encourage everyone to post about something like this reminding each of us that we are all fabulous in our own way!!!!

Happy Wednesday!

Polka Dot Nails Take 1

OPI Vodka & Caviar (Red)
OPI Not Like The Movies (Silver Grey)
Sally Hansen #63
Sally Girl EH1-118

So I saw polka dot nails on a blog somewhere (I'm sorry I can't remember where) and I'd been dying to try them, so I did! I didn't have a handy dandy tool to make the dots or anything, I ended up using a toothpick to make the dots. It wasn't perfect, the dots did get better with more practice but admittedly these dots look more like blobs and smears......

Practice makes perfect so I will be trying these again. Also, I don't like my dot placement, I think that will also need some working on!

Hoorah For Sequins

Sequin Jacket: The Gap
Knit Tank: Suzy Shier
Gap Jeans: Thrifted
Red Leather Loafers: Nine West
Scarf: Gift
Hat: Walk About Hats
Earrings: Gift from Natasha

So I was an extra day behind in my posts last week which is why today's post is not snowy when it really should be! The last few days have been snowy and -20 and colder with the wind so I feel like the next few posts will be coats.... I had such a busy weekend I did not take a single outfit photo, plus it was so cold my frozen brain didn't even think about it.....

But as Carrie would say "it gives me a chance to bust out the gloves!"

Groovy Alright

Dress: Thrifted
Brown Knit Dress: Random Boutique
Over The Knee Socks: Winners
Boots: The Company
Necklace: Le Chateau
Bamboo Earrings: Gift

I took layering to the next level with these dresses, yes I layered a dress over a dress. Since they're both very light weight they worked perfectly together and I was a comfortable temperature all day! People always comment on how cold I must be wearing dresses in the winter, but truthfully I'm typically warmer than when wearing pants. I swear its because tights and over the knee socks are right next to the skin and hold the heat in better, or maybe I've just convinced myself!

Then there's the reactions I get wearing this printed dress, quite funny sometimes. This dress was a  wicked find a few months back, it still had the tags on it and said it was a sample, sweet I know.

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend, I'm hoping to get to work on Christmas presents!

I Should Be Going Out

Cardigan: Thrifted
Knit Top: Tristan
Skirt: Winners
BCBG Necklace: Thrifted
Tights: Winners
Steve Madden Booties: DSW
Earrings: F21

I enjoyed this outfit a lot, not to mention how ridiculous this cardigan is with its fuzzy fabulousness and many colors. I found a couple cardi's/sweaters last week thrifting and felt I must be having a very lucky day because I find that these particular items are very difficult to find!

I felt as though I should be putting on some big pumps and going out with the girls after work with this outfit, I'm not sure why...... Maybe it was because I painted my nails for once and it made me feel uber glam....

Delightful Evening

Cardigan: Made by my Bamma
Denim Dress: Refind
Tights: Winners
Boots: Nine West
Hat: Vendor at Stampede
Necklace: Le Chateau

These photos were quite fun to take, the sun was shining and the field was practically glowing it was so beautiful!

A couple posts back I talked about another amazing dress I have, not amazing as in covered in sequins and tons of pretty shiny things but amazing as in fits me. Fits through the shoulders, long enough in the sleeves and shaping in the waist. Well this is another one of my amazing dresses, I just plain love it. The slit up the back on this dress was too high so I did stitch it down a bit but minor detail.

I think the first photo on this post is one of my most favorites!

I think I'm going to make my gilet tonight as long as I don't get distracted....

My Technicolor Dream Coat

Printed sheer top: Winners
Silk Blouse: Gift from Natasha
Earl Jeans: Winners
Suede Wedges: Winners
Earrings: Made by my sister

This was a fun background I came across and rather perfect with the top I was wearing for the day. I kept trying to get a head shot to show my earrings better, but as evident the wind has impeccable timing....

The christening gown was picked up last night and my friends loved it thank goodness! I think making sure the ladies were happy was more nerve racking than cutting up the dress. I was just psyching myself out more than anything it seems!

Date Night

DKNY Blazer: Thrifted
Knit Top: F21
Necklace: Walmart
Pants: Suzy Shier
Bracelet: F21
Tassled Loafer Pumps: Nine West
Red Ostrich Purse: Milan

Heres my outfit from date night Friday, sadly the photos are below par. Maybe I need to get different light bulbs, would that help? I'm loving these shoes so much, and definitely loving them with the cropped pants!

Date night was good, but anything involving prime rib has to be good right? I didn't get to enjoy it to the fullest extent though because that afternoon I made cookies and ate so many I didn't even need dinner. However, it did make for fabulous leftovers the next day!

This past weekend I did a big project for some friends which involved taking a wedding dress and making a christening gown out of it for a newly arrived granddaughter of theirs. I've never made anything for a baby before so this was something new and different, talk about some seriously small armholes! Stay tuned for photos....

Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!

Meant For Eachother

Dress: Thrifted
Leggings: Suzy Shier
Boots: Spring
Necklace: Gift

I thrifted this dress a while ago and I can't even tell you how excited I was! I mean, a dress that fits me through the shoulders and has an adequate sleeve length, impossible right? No it isn't because the proof is right before your eyes! Plus it has those great epaulet details! The one thing about this dress I would like to spiff up is the buttons, they're plain and I think I can do better.

Meanwhile, its getting darker and I don't have a better solution for outfit shots.....

Prints, Fringe, Texture

Blazer: Thrifted
Top: Thrifted
Top: Joe Fresh
BCBG Necklace: Thrifted
Fringe skirt: F21
Tights: Winners
Over the knee socks: Winners
Boots: Nine West

This outfit seems to have a bit of everything, but in a good way. I think anyways. I decided that I wanted to wear over the knee socks today and things developed from there, and without much thought too. I enjoyed all the layers I got to wear in this outfit, one of the few positives of cooler weather you could say. I am wondering what I'm going to do with the serious lack of daylight for my photos since I do not like taking photos inside, and the ever increasing cold that is outside these days too. Buurrrrrr!!!!!!!

I think this is one of my favorite outfits, yes, yes it is....

Green On Trend

I miss these shoes, they don't get out enough!

Three different buttons....

Jacket: Selfmade
Dress: ?
Shoes: Nine West
Necklace: The Bay

Admittedly these photos were taken 10 minutes before I crashed into bed last week after having to go to a work function when I was definitely coming down with a cold. I got the beau to quickly snap these photos and didn't check to make sure everything was in order, hence the askew necklace and etc. This is also why I didn't post on Friday, I was so sick Thursday my whole world came to a stop!

I can definitely say I was quite overdressed for this function, but I would much rather be overdressed than underdressed!

Sadly no photo of the whole dress. I got this dress probably 7+ years ago for $12 when my mom and I were down in the states for something, who knows. Its my LBD that has come in handy many times over the years..... I don't typically wear black dresses because I love color and prints so much but because this dress has a shimmer to it along with such an interesting hem I never get tired of it. Do you have a LBD that you can't part with?
