All Casual

Green Military Jacket: Smart Set
T-Shirt: Bootlegger
Jeans: Smart Set
Shoes: Winners
Scarf: Ardene
Ring: The Bay
Purse: Winners

Well, I've made it to spring break! Its been a tough 2nd semester so far, and even though I will be working and doing a mountain of homework my teachers have set, I'm still hoping to get a bit of rest! My mom and sister came through town today so we had lunch and my mom got to play photographer. I must say she really has come a long way, I always thought those view screens were really helpful, but she would still manage to get her fingers in the photo.... She was also very bossy saying to do this and that. She said it was like trying to order a dog around. Needless to say the whole process was quite funny!
We ended up going to the greenhouses today as my mom is a total plant freak, my sister tried to take photo's of me with all the amazing flowers but my camera just got all fogged up, which foiled that plan... I also got a plant because the greenhouse was having a sale... We'll see how long this one lasts.....
I also remembered my sunglasses today so I'm not squinting in all my photo's.
I will be posting while on spring break but I can't say how consistant I'll be......

Red, White & Black

Jacket: Self made
White dress: Winners
Tights: ???
Steve Madden boots: DSW
Black leather gloves: Gift
Scarf: Ardene

I remembered to braid my hair today. I just did two little braids and then pulled them back, thought it looked cute with the dress. Then, to take it up a notch I added the funky black tights and boots. Did I mention how much I love this coat? It was totally worth all the effort it took!
The scarf was just something I thought of last minute, only to be informed by my classmates, that they figured I was inspired by the cravat from the Restoration period. Good old history of clothing.....
Lots of fun photo's today, I think I was just invigerated by the wonderful fresh air after spending all afternoon in my sauna of a classroom. I was also highly motivated by hunger.....
It was nice to be outside for a few minutes and soak up some vitamin D!
Have a dress to draft, must go!

Apple Seeds

Jacket: Bebe
Sleeveless Cardigan: Winners
Stripey Top: Joe Fresh
Earl Jeans: Winners
Ankle Boots: Nine West
Apple Seed Necklace: Garage sale
Belt: Grandma's

Last night I watched Taking Woodstock for movie night with some classmates. I was quite inspired by all the hippies! Unfortunately its just too cold here still to be wearing some of the things I would really like to, so I wore these long wide leg jeans instead. I was going to put some random little braids in my hair and then forgot too! Maybe tomorrow.... Jeepers! I was still very happy about finding this belt, so I wore it again!
The brown necklace is made of apple seeds and strung together. I found it at a garage sale quite some time again, but find it quite interesting. Who would of thought, apple seeds as jewelry....
Another short one again, I have so many quarter scales to do for pattern drafting tomorrow....

Velvet

Jacket: Can't remember, this one's an oldie!
Tank: Suzy Shier
High waisted shorts: F21
Leggings: Sirens
Boots: Spring
Necklaces: ???
Earrings: F21

I'm super glad I wore these leggings today instead of just tights because it was a lot colder than I realized! This jacket is quite amazing, and unfortunately Jordan and I decided not to go out into the cold to take pictures but didn't think about the fact that you can't see all the details here. It has a ribbon tie at the front as well as a ribbon you can pull and gather the sleeves at the cuff too! So fun! And, lets not forget the great little puffs at the top of the sleeve.
This is a sewing lab at school where I spend most of my time. I am standing with my dressforn and the bodice and collar I have draped for my pattern drafting class. The collar made things interesting today.... I used to have a really strange dressforn that had a hunch and I named her Quasimodo, this one, as you can see is in much better shape!
Sorry this is a short one, I have a stack of homework to do and its movie night with the girls....

Beautiful Monday

Jacket: Bebe
Baggy Striped Shirt: Suzy Shier
Lacy Cami: Suzy Shier
Earl Jeans: Winners
Shoes: The Shoe Company
Yellow Purse: Winners
Necklace: Suzy Shier
Belt: Vintage

I was estatic to find this belt last week, as it was my grandma's! Isn't it amazing?! I really didn't get to know her, but from the pictures and stories I hear, she was an amazing woman with some serious creative talent. A favorite photo of her I have is with my grandpa and they are wearing costumes, to be a part of celebrating the Pony Express or something from what I remember a relative telling me.
It was with my other belts all along, just hiding...
Today was a great Monday, the sun was shining, the snow was sparkling...
I do think I need to whip out the GooBeGone and spiff up these patent shoes again. I will be posting some awesome car photo's from the World of Wheels car show I went to on Friday, but homework has to come first right now! Cheerio!

On the Edge

Jacket: Suzy Shier
Top: Self Made
Leggings: Suzy Shier
Boots: Steve Madden DSW
Necklace: Le Chateau
Mismatched Earrings: ???

So, this top I think is borderline long enough to pull off with these leggings. Although I only serged it to finish the bottom, but think I really should do an actual hem, so it won't be long enough in the future.... I also, still need to put a hook and eye on the back, as its just a zipper at the moment. Did I mention I made this shirt a very long time ago??? I am a gemini through and through!
I'm also doing mismatched but coordinating earrings today. Very fun. I'm not even sure anyone has even noticed at this point, but its only lunch time, and I guess my hair is still kind of in the way! The one earring has a really cool enamel pattern on it and I lost its partner a long time ago and just couldn't part with it!
I'm going to The World of Wheels tonight, so I'll probably post a few photo's this weekend. Pimped out cars are creativity and fashion in their own right... and for me, definitely inspirational!!!

Geometric

Dress: Club Monaco
Tights: Winners
Shoes: Place inVegas
Necklaces: Gifts and Welsh Marketplace
Ring: Suzy Shier

Today it was ridiculously hot in the building where I have my classes, so I was glad I had chosen this silk dress. I did actually have a long sleeveless sweater on as well at the beginning of the day, but due to the excessive heat, it really wasn't worn a whole lot today. What a relief it was to get outside into the fresh air!
I'm also quite excited today, as final projects are coming up, and I think I will try doing a mens shirt. Aside from a lounge like coat I made for a Halloween costume for my sister's old boyfriend, its really not something I've dabbled in.... It will be interesting to see if this pans out, or if I find something I want to make myself! I'm not even sure whats out there for men's patterns because I definitely do not have the time to do an entire sloper and then draft a pattern.....

Red coat fabulousness!

Red Dress Coat: Self made
Shirt: Joe Fresh
Skirt: Joes Fresh
Tights: Winners
Boots: The Shoe Company
Necklace: Hair show
Belts: H & M
Long leather gloves: Gift from Natasha!
Scarf: ???

I am exceptionally happy to of finally worn my lovely red coat for the blog. I absolutely adore this coat, its just not one I want to stuff into my locker and definitely needs to be hung up, so this has stopped me from wearing it a good deal. The last picture shows how full the coat is, as I am spinning around and almost biffed'er trying to stop! I definitely got a ton of compliments today, and with polka dot lining how could I not???? Also, I couldn't decide on the green or yellow faux skinny snake print belt so I wore them both! Yay!
Pictures were very fun today with all the fresh snow, around a good 5 inches I think.....

Proenza Schouler Spring/Summer 2010

Lanvin Spring/Summer 2010

Okay, so today just as I was about to do pictures my camera batteries died! They were fine all weekend. So with no batteries nearby, and me being in no mood to go track some down, I've decided to post some lovely photo's of the Spring/Summer Collections I really think are quite fabulous (All photo's are courtesy of http://www.ellecanada.com/).
Between the gorgeous ruffles and gathers done at Lanvin, the amazing beadwork at Gucci, the subtle and sexy layering at Donna Karen, and the brilliant prints at Proenza Schouler I think theres really a bit here for everyone. Hope you like!

V-day

I'm really not a big Valentine's day fan. I'm happy for everyone else to celebrate, but I really feel that it really seems to get blown out of proportion, like Christmas. Last year I had an Un-Valentine's Day party which was a lot of fun. This year I had to work, so I was convinced by some friends, to go see a movie. Not just any movie mind you, Valentine's Day. I'll admit that it was a pretty good movie, I loved Jennifer Garner and Jessica Biel, their characters were hilarious. I think Jessica's character really had it right. She has an I hate Valentine's day party, where she brings an enormous heart shaped Pinata that Jennifer Garner procedes to beat to smitherenes.... I'm totally getting one of those for next year!

The flowers above are called Birds of Paradise. The Beau got them for me, even after specific instructions that Sunday was a normal weekend day like any other. I'll admit they are beautiful, and it was very nice of him, before people start thinking I'm ungrateful.

There won't be an outfit post today, as in Alberta it's Family day holiday and I'm only half dressed!

Croquis

So, no outfit today... I actually do look good wearing a cute printed satin top, with a black boyfriend blazer, blue skinny jeans, and my awesome patent green buckle shoes, but it was a hectic day....
Instead. here is a picture of a croquis I was working on today in my design class, its only my second one, so its a working progress. I also seem to of been slightly angled when taking this picture because her head looks much better than the angle shown here.
I am posting from the beau's computer again as class ran late and I had to be somewhere. The stupid thing just doesn't want to cooperate with me and the frustration has not left me very chatty!

Sunshine Blind

Cardigan: Suzy Shier
Tank: Mac & Jack - Winners
Jeans: Smart Set
Shoes: Steve Madden - DSW
Necklace: Le Chateau
Earrings: F21
Purse: Winners

I really need to remember my sunglasses. I was quite blinded today with the sun being so incredibly bright, or maybe its just the fact that I spend all my daylight hours inside doing schoolwork? Needless to say, I could hardly keep my eyes open for pictures today. It was tough! I don't mean to complain, the sunshine is great, I just need to not be so forgetful! A busy day today, and also a long one, so something extra comfy and versatile. Thanks for the comment yesterday about the hairspray, I will definitely being giving that a shot!
