Miss President???

Cardigan: Made by my Gran!
Shirt: Joe Fresh
Pants: BCBG
Necklace: Random booth at a hair show
Belt: H & M
Shoes: Nine West

So I would like to announce that I am running for the student body President at college.... Ambitious? Yes, but I'm really excited for the campaigning, the public speech part not so much but I'll keep you all updated as things progress! Also, does anyone know where I can get my hands on a button making kit? I'd like to make some buttons for my campaign but can't find any!

Anyways, I love this cardigan (Aran sweater)! My gran made it for me quite a few years ago and its still great and very warm! The pants are super funky and really long so I have to wear big shoes with them, which is just a great excuse to wear big shoes!

My college is also participating in an event in Calgary called Fashion has no borders and will be putting on a fashion show so I am hoping to submit a few pieces which is quite exciting! I'm thinking the green dress, the houdstooth skirt and the gold and black printed pencil skirt. Any thoughts?

Must go, campaign meeting!

Just call me Zebra

Jacket: Self Made
Jeans: Costa Blanca
Boots: Bakers
Gloves: Gift from Nash

This coat is a lot of fun, it wasn't nearly as much fun to make though! The fabric is one of those fur like chenille deals and man did it make a mess. I made this quite a while ago and still remember. I also put in a fantastic blood red satin as a lining but forgot to take a picture...... And of course I had to put on some fabulous buttons!
It was also very cold again today so I very much enjoyed hiding in the coat while taking pictures and it was a great opportunity to bust out my awesome elbow length leather gloves!

Jumping Around

Shirt: Gift from Natasha!
Turtleneck: Smart Set
Jeans: Le Chateau
Boots: Pendulum
Earrings: ???

Today was a really cold day so I knew I was going to wear the awesome boots I found yesterday. The turtleneck is a great way to ensure I can wear this awesome shirt throughout the winter, as it is a very light weight silk. Don't ask me why I did these photo's outside when it was so cold, but it was done quickly! A few jumping off the bench poses were tried but all I can say is that I really need to work on my facial expressions. Big time.
I really love the jewelled neckline on this shirt but as I was in my hands on classes today I figured the rest of the outfit would be pretty casual, especially with the stupid weather! Also the sun was shining so bright I could hardly open my eyes, it was not a good day to forget my sunglasses.

Mandy, Jordan and I at Pendulum Consignment Store

Boyfriend Jacket: Reitmans
Shirt: F21
Jeans: Parasuco for Smart Set
Boots: Mustang Brand found at Pendulum
Earrings: Gift
Necklace: Suzy Shier

Today we had industry day at college, so on the way the ladies and I were a bit early and decided to stop at Pendulum. A big thanks to Mandy on this one as I have never been to Pendulum before and it was fantastic!!! I'm quite sad that I have a new favorite but they are closing January 31st.

Mandy rocked out this great dress and belt she found and ended up wearing them out of the store. Jordan found this awesome black shirt that looks like a completely normal button up shirt on the front and then from the back POW! Love it, what an amazing cut out on the back! I found these amazing Mustang Brand boots, they must be brand new as the treads didn't even have scuff marks. I'm quite excited about the boots as it was -18 or so today and my feet were freezing in little ballerina flats.

What a great way to start the week!

Trenchin' It

Trench: Bebe
Dress: Zara
Leggings: Suzy Shier
Bangles: Ten Thousand Villages
Earrings: ???

Today was another beautiful frosty day. Usually everything is all frosty in the morning and by lunch its gone, but for the last two days its just been absolutely beautiful. Its cold very icy, but I'm focusing on the sheer brilliance of nature!
It was a little chilly showing off the dress which is why the coat stayed on. Definitely glad I added the leggings for a little extra warmth!

Patent Fix Up!

Jacket: Suzy Shier
T-shirt: Bluenotes
Jeans: Earl Jeans
Shoes: The Shoe Company
Earrings: ???
Necklaces: Gifts
Ring: Claires

I was discussing shoes with a teacher the other morning and we had both mentioned what a pain patent shoes are when they get marked up, as nothing I'd done managed to get the marks off!!! Well, this morning I made quite the discovery..... Goo Be Gone will take off those horrible little marks on your patent shoes leaving them shiny and like new!!!! My awesome buckled shoes above are a prime example. I cleaned up all the horrible marks while I was waiting for my car to warm up this morning, thats how quick it was!!! Now I need not be afraid of purchasing more patent shoes. Yay.

On another note, don't the frosted trees look beautiful? I managed to juggled a couple bags and a hot drink and still get my camera out this morning on the way to class to take some pictures of campus because it was looking so much like a winter wonderland....

Military and Houndstooth

Jacket: Le Chateau
Top: Joe Fresh
Skirt: Self made
Tights: ???
Shoes: Shoe store in Vegas
 Snake Ring: Suzy Shier
Earrings: ???

It was a crazy day, I forgot a lot of things including my camera cord which is why this is being posted the day after, but at least I looked quite fabulous! This skirt was a lot of fun to make and the shape is so flattering I would like to make another! Pairing the jacket with such an interesting skirt was a new idea but a definite success, I can't wait to see how else I can mix things up....

Color Contrast

Cardigan: BCBGeneration
Skirt: BCBG
Belt: H & M
Tights: Winners
Boots: Steve Madden - DSW
Necklace: Gift from my sister Kayleigh
Earrings: ?

I wanted something colorful today and this is what I came up with, I definitely did not feel like wearing jeans. This cardgian is a favorite with the gathered tie neckline and the brilliant fabric on the skirt really just amps the whole thing up. The pockets are a definite plus as it was a bit chilly outside, so the pictures were taken as quickly as possible!
I must say I seemed to of mastered sewing on an industrial machine with precision while wearing heels!!! A plus of the skirt fabric is that its hiding random threads that are hanging on from my construction class.

Sunshine Me Blind

Jacket: Suzy Shier
Vest: Self Made
Shirt: Joe Fresh
Cami: ???
Jeans: Bluenotes
Shoes: ???
Necklace: Suzy Shier

The sunshine was wonderful today, such a great way to start off the week! I kept things comfy and casual today and wore a fun pair of runners that are green and yellow. Pity I forgot to do a close up! The vest I made out of white silk shantung and finished with some fabulous peachy tan like color buttons that have gold flecks in them. Overall, a great start to my week, and hopefully some more sunshine tomorrow....

Finally Printed

Shirt: Joe Fresh
Skirt: Self made
Boots: Spring
Bangles: Ten Thousand Villages & ???

I'm glad I finally got this skirt made. I bought this fabric a couple years ago and had big plans to make it into a fabulous little pencil skirt and just never got to it (I have a couple bins of fabric with this same sad little story). Luckily, last semester I had a skirt construction project that fit the plan for this fabric exactly and got to finally put my plans into action!!!! The fabric actually has metallic strands all the way through it, though pretty, it did turn out to be a little bit of a pain to sew! All the hard work was worth it thoug,. don't you just love it when it all works out????

Again With The Fringe....

Jacket: Le Chateau
Shirt: Winners
Jeans: Parasuco for Smart Set
Boots: Bakers
Purse: Winners

I knew today was going to be a hectic day with my hardest classes, an exam, volunteer duties and a friends birthday to go to, so my outift had to be super comfortable to help keep me going! I'm glad I finally got a picture in of my awesome yellow purse. I never feel that yellow looks very good on me, so the solution was a great accessory. A much better photo of these amazing over the knee boots too, so much easier when someone else is behind the camera. Speaking of behind the camera...

My personal photographer, also known as my friend Melissa... She wore this fabulous blue hat which she found in a vintage store over the weekend... She's also the only person I really know that can pull off a fanny pack!!!

Sunshine My Day

Jacket: Self made
Tank: Jacob
Skirt: F21
Tights: Winners?
Boots: Nine West
Earrings: Gift from Natasha!
Bracelet: Ten Thousand Villages

Today was another beautiful day, so I celebrated with this fabulous little fringed skirt. I absolutely loathe the old school jacket with the fringe on them `a la Steven Segal but the updated pieces with fringe I've become a big fan of. These earrings are brilliant, they are pieces of metal and I'm not sure how they've been finished but it's really something. The jacket is one I started quite a long time ago and then got frustrated with and only finished last year. It involved a lot of hand stitching, and when I had started this project I didn't have a dress form, so much easier with a dressform. The project was from an article in Threads magazine on how to make a jacket like they do at Chanel and now I'm thinking I would really like to try another one.

Green With Envy

Dress: Self made
Tights: The Bay
Shoes: Vegas...
Bangles: Ten Thousand Villages
Earrings: ???

It was mentioned to me over the weekend that I put on my profile that I like to design and sew my own clothes but had not shown any on my blog yet.... So boyfriend, this one's for you! This dress was a lot of fun to make, I think I'd like to make a few more variations as I always get a lot of compliments on it. Coincidently the tights have a tan stripe and a green stripe that happens to match the dress perfectly, but not too matchy, matchy......
